Cut-down adult clubs do not fit children
Most children start with clubs that were never designed for them: an adult set shortened at the grip, too heavy in the head, too stiff in the shaft. The child cannot get the ball airborne, so they decide golf is not for them. Plenty of them stop there.
Upswing starts from the other end. Every club is built at a junior length, with a shaft weight and flex a young player can actually load, and a head designed to launch the ball high from turf. The club does the work a small swing cannot.

Age ranges are a starting point. Height and reach matter more, which is exactly why the sizes overlap.
Growth Kits: buy once, not twice
Children grow out of golf clubs long before they wear them out. The usual answer is to sell the set on and buy the next one whole, at full price, every couple of years.
A Growth Kit upgrades the set you already own to the next size instead. Junior to JR Varsity, or JR Varsity to Varsity — from £249.99, or from £279.99 with the matching bag. The clubs keep up with the child rather than being replaced by them.
The Galaxy finish
Every set comes in the standard finish or in Galaxy — an iridescent head that shifts between green, gold and violet in the light. It is the same club underneath. It is also, reliably, the one children reach for first, and a club a child wants to carry is a club a child will practise with.
